These bars are decadent and satisfy a sweet tooth, yet they are protein-rich, gluten free and use natural sweetener. With cocoa powder, seeds and nuts these bars are packed with minerals. Great for a post-exercise energy boost!

Chocolate Protein Squares


1 cup almond butter
2/3 cup agave nectar
½ cup fair trade cocoa powder
½ cup coconut flour (available at Bulk Barn)
½ cup toasted slivered almonds
½ cup raw sunflower seeds
½ cup hemp seeds
1/3 cup ground flaxseed
½ cup protein powder – I’ve used Vega Energizing Smoothie Choc-a-lot or hemp protein powder

Place all ingredients except almond butter and agave nectar into a food processor. Blend until combined. Add agave and almond butter and process until combined. Pat mixture into 9” parchment paper-lined baking dish. Refrigerate 1-2 hours, lift out parchment paper and cut into squares. Store in freezer so you don’t eat them all at once.
